Algorithms Team Lead

My client, a world leader in the defence sector, requires an Algorithms Team Lead to lead a team of technical professionals to develop algorithms for future weapon systems.

Algorithms Team Lead

The Algorithms Team Lead will join a team of specialist and forward-thinking technologists using product knowledge and mathematical analysis to develop the algorithms that underpin the advanced capabilities of weapon systems. To keep ahead of their rivals, they are always looking to the state-of-the-art in algorithm technology, including an increasing adoption of methods that employ machine-learning and artificial intelligence.

You will:
 

• Lead a team of algorithm developers typically using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
• Represent the Weapon System Algorithm capability in multiple projects.
• Collaborate with systems teams to understand how algorithms will be used and with the software team to appreciate how they will be implemented.
• Be responsible for defining the toolchain and process for ensuring integrity through to the final product.
• Offer on the job training within a team of specialists.
• Have opportunities to influence how algorithms are developed and how the team grows and adapts to meet evolving technological needs.

To be considered for this role, applicants will need to be qualified to degree level in a relevant engineering subject, with experience in the development of algorithms for real-life engineering applications and solutions for safety critical systems, ideally within the defence arena. 

You will also have:
 

• Experience of leading teams of highly qualified and technical individuals.
• A commitment to quality and the procedures followed to ensure it.
• A desire to make an impression within the company engineering community.

Salary to £65k DOE plus excellent bonus and benefits
Hybrid working (Where possible, they will offer a blended approach to on-site and remote working, but this role is predominantly site based).
