LUNIQ are currently looking for a number of Systems Engineers who will form an integral part of our customers advanced submarine programme, applying extensive technical acumen to influence and shape the design, development, and realisation of advanced systems for a wide range of applications. With responsibilities spanning the systems engineering lifecycle, this role includes tasks such as developing detailed specifications, managing technical requirements and designs, presenting acceptance evidence at design reviews, and overseeing change management processes. The Systems Engineer will liaise with both internal and external stakeholders, and will be accountable for producing key systems engineering documentation. The ideal candidate will bring agility, sharp problem-solving skills, and a strong capacity for collaboration to navigate the complex challenges of our high-tech industry.

 

Position: Contract (Inside)

Salary: up to £650 d/p

Location: Hybrid, up to 2 days a week on site in Filton or Frimley office.

Clearance: Must have a valid UK SC Clearance

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Developing detailed specifications for complex system designs, adhering to ISO-15288 standards through Waterfall or V-Model engineering lifecycle frameworks.
  • Applying understanding of the system engineering lifecycle, including delivery, and demonstrating adeptness in implementing good systems engineering practices.
  • Steering the design and development by coordinating activities per Systems Engineering processes, tools, and techniques (such as RAMP, SEMP, ITEAP).
  • Reviewing and shaping the technical requirements and architectural designs for systems and subsystems, ensuring the logical and systematic conversion to coherent equipment-level requirements.
  • Presenting acceptance evidence at design reviews to senior stakeholders and external partners, articulating a clear understanding of associated technical risks.
  • Supporting the delivery of project-level design reviews, including stakeholder coordination, design baseline, and voids management.
  • Overseeing and providing input to the change management process and controlling project scope.
  • Coordinating and managing legislative processes for system, subsystem, and equipment design against legislation and standards.
  • Producing comprehensive system engineering documentation such as SRD, SSRD, VCRI, and SDD.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient engagement in support of system realisation.

 

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in the specification, design, and development of complex systems.
  • Proficiency in systems engineering practices and methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in requirements management, preferably using DOORS.
  • Knowledge and experience of agile principles using the scrum framework.
  • Acumen in conducting system test and integration activities.
  • Proven experience in coordinating and managing legislative processes for design against legislation and standards.
  • Excellent document production and presentation skills.

 

Advantageous Skills

  • Experience with MBSE tools and techniques such as Sparx EA, Bizz Design, No Magic, SysML, UML, ArchiMate, TOGAF, SOSAF, or UAF.
  • Prior experience in the space industry or related high-tech sectors.
  • Knowledge of the telecommunications industry, including emerging technologies and trends.
  • Understanding of radar, sonar, or other related technologies.
  • Proficiency in additional project management methodologies beyond agile, such as Lean or Six Sigma.
