We have a Scrum Master position available within the clients divisions as part of the continued growth of our P3M Delivery Service. The role is suitable for candidates who have experience as a Scrum Manager or a background in either Agile Project Management. Working from within our P3M Delivery Practice, you will primarily work as a client facing member of a project team, leading your own work Agile Delivery Teams. The Scrum Master role is a unique Agile team member who spends much of their time helping other team members communicate, coordinate, and cooperate; generally, this person assists the team in meeting their delivery goals. The Scrum Master is a servant leader who enables teams to self-organize, self-manage, and deliver via effective Lean-Agile practices. The Scrum Master supports Scrum, Kanban, and other ways of working the team have adopted. The Scrum Master also helps the team coordinate with other teams on the Agile Release Train (ART).

The client area delivers software applications to support operational tasking of services to a range of policing customers. This is a busy operational area using a range of on and off-site suppliers in a variety of geographical locations.

You will own and drive the overall Scrum deliveries for your area, planned during quarterly phase planning sessions with client senior leadership where you will be expected to represent your team and support your technical SMEs. You will be responsible for managing a mixture of client and supplier delivery teams, assuring their fortnightly sprints and integrating the various team deliverable towards your area’s quarterly phase plans.

Responsibilities

  • Expected to work with clients, with responsibility for achieving client satisfaction, producing deliverables to expected quality and within commercial constraints. Will need to build and maintain strong client relationships as will be embedded in the client’s delivery teams working directly with client staff and consultants from other organisations. Contribute and collaborate with a range of stakeholders routinely. Being adaptable and flexible to suit the circumstances, being prepared to work either at a high-level or at a detailed level when its required. Will support business development by identifying and exploiting new business opportunities.

Skills and Experience

 

A proven and successful background in delivery management. With a broad range of management and project management skills. An in-depth knowledge of at least one relevant business sector. May be a noted expert in an industry sector or specific functional area.

 

  • Agile Project Management Qualification (eg Scrum, SAFe, Agile PM) Demonstrable experience of working on projects and assignments, with evidence of responsibility to deliver in time pressured and complex technical or intense stakeholder environments. Planning, monitoring and reporting, with JIRA experience desirable Issue and Risk management Awareness of Change Management and Processes. Commercially astute, able to effectively manage assignments on time, on budget. It is desirable if you have experience of managing 3rd Party Suppliers Exhibits agile Scrum leadership and facilitates team events, including the Daily Stand-up, Iteration Planning, Iteration Review, and Iteration Retrospective ensures they are productive and kept within the timebox. Supports the team’s Scrum rules and processes Facilitates the team’s progress toward team goals and leads team efforts in relentless improvement. Supports the team by removing blockers. Supports the Product Owner. Builds a high-performing team focusing on ever-improving team dynamics and performance and coaches the team in self-management. Enables organizational effectiveness; the Scrum Master works with other Scrum Masters and stakeholders to help the team contribute towards improving the overall delivery and process quality Facilitates preparation and readiness for SAFe events such as the client quarterly Phase Increment planning. Supports estimating by guiding the team in establishing normalized estimates.

The right candidate will have the ability to juggle a range of parallel tasks, whilst remaining professional and amenable. The right candidate will also be: Self-motivated and confident Encourages collaboration within client. Has a wealth of delivery experience as a work package manager. Someone who demonstrates how to be influential, assertive and diplomatic. Does not accept things at face value but is analytical with problem-solving skills. Excellent communicator, verbal (ability to listen) and written (able to write concisely) including the production of technical documents. Focussed on outcomes and not put off by disappointment and can stand up to pressure from client stakeholders.
