Chief Engineer
Location: Berkshire
Salary: £75,000 to £90,000 plus Bonus’
Our client, who protect complex and highly sensitive information within the Defence industry on a global scale are currently looking for a Chief Engineer who’ll be responsible for multi-disciplined engineering teams, ensuring the delivery of all engineering work is on time, to quality and within budget.
Your duties:
- Ensure appropriate Work Package Management for all projects, regularly reviewing and reporting progress.
- Identify and address project issues early, with escalation to Senior Leadership Team as needed.
- Coach and oversee Engineering Project Leads, ensuring adherence to company processes.
- Establish realistic and ambitious project delivery plans.
- Proactively manage technical and engineering risk, with mitigation strategies in place.
- Manage project startup and team formation, defining delivery strategy and tailoring processes. Collaborate closely with PM to deliver projects.
- Present project updates at reviews.
- Lead technology roadmap definition for portfolio area, coordinating input from stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant processes and legislation.
- Act as senior representative with customers and suppliers to advance company goals.
What we’re looking for:
- A relevant degree, ideally a STEM subject
- Experience in successfully delivering complex, multi-disciplinary development programmes on time and within budget.
- Skilled at building positive relationships and managing difficult conversations with stakeholders and senior management.
- Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior, able to communicate tough messages and make difficult decisions under pressure.
- Full Project lifecycle experience, from bids and proposals to in-service support.
