High Containment Mechanical Engineer

Our client, a large government customer, is seeking a High Containment Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Weybridge, with one day per week working from home.

Initial contracts will run for 6 months and rate will be discussed at application stage.

IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. This engagement has been assessed by the public body as Inside IR35 legislation. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement.

This role requires CTC or SC (Security Check) clearance. Applicants require active CTC or SC clearance or the eligibility/willingness to go through clearance once in role. Candidates with current clearance will be preferred but BPSS candidates will be accepted.

The Role

DgP (Group Property) manage the provision of facilities management services to the departments’ executive agency; the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA). APHA use a wide range of specialist facilities as part of its aims to safeguard animal and plant health for the benefit of people, the environment and the economy. These specialist facilities include biocontainment laboratories across the UK with the main laboratory campus being located at Weybridge.

The Weybridge site is the largest facility in terms of size and complexity across the network and is currently going through a process of major investment (over £1b) and redevelopment in order to enhance its scientific capability. The site is at the forefront of research and diagnostic testing for animal and zoonotic diseases and leads on disease outbreak response. DgP Technical services at Weybridge fulfil the role of Intelligent Client Function (ICF) for FM services across DgP’s Science Estate. DgPTechnical Services ensure that the technical expertise and assurance is applied to the operation of the high risk environment, ensuring that the high risk site remains safe.

Leading on detailed assurance for mechanical systems in a high containment environment, the High Containment Mechanical Engineer ensures that highest standards are implemented and maintained in critical mechanical systems and integrates with both the DgP Technical Services team and contracted service partners. The High Containment Mechanical Engineer is critical to ensuring that the high containment mechanical systems are sufficient, functional, and maintained to a high standard to allow the site to operate and the high risk science activities to continue.

Candidate Eligibility

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, this role will not offer Visa sponsorship. Tier 2 – General visas cannot be accepted. This role requires that candidates be willing to undergo BPSS (DS) Baseline Personnel Security Standard (with a Disclosure Scotland).
