The Boeing Test and Evaluation Team in the United Kingdom (BT&E) covers Maintenance Test Flying, Experimental Test Flying and Instructional activity. BT&E UK are seeking a Chinook Pilot to assist the team in supporting the UK Chinook maintenance and modification programs. This role could be offered on a full time or part time basis.

You will have following responsibilities:

  • Delivery flying, systems testing, training, support to test flying and functional test flights on production and non-production aircraft as aircraft captain and/or co-pilot.
  • Conduct familiarization, qualification, standardization and perform mission-specific training for domestic and international pilots.
  • Demonstrate competitive and technical features of aircraft for customer evaluation.
  • Perform duties of a Flight Authoriser, including when operating without any on-site superior.
  • Represent Boeing Flight Operations at RAF Odiham, MOD Boscombe Down and Middle Wallop.
  • Periodic support to Boeing Flight Operations at other global Boeing sites as required.
  • Provide aircrew advice to the Boeing Design Team and assist with product development.
  • Support customer meetings.
  • Participate in programme planning and support for safety activities.
  • Identify risks, issues and opportunities and support the development of mitigation plans.
  • Support the further development and maintenance of safety process.
  • Plan and conduct maintenance, production and acceptance test flights.
  • Demonstrate or lead aircraft-qualified customer pilots in the maintenance test flight / acceptance process.
  • Identify and detail flight deficiencies and coordinate resolution.
  • Ensure design integrity and recommend changes based on operational considerations.
  • Review service related issues and customer feedback to continuously improve production check procedures and documentation.
  • Boeing on-site Flight Safety Officer.
  • Flight Operations support and coordination of aircrew related resources.
  • Support Boeing flight operations in the instructional, experimental flight test and maintenance domains as qualifications allow.

Apart from a Chinook qualification and experience in Chinook Maintenance Test flying, candidates must demonstrate the following:

  • Be fully aware of general aviation principles and have detailed experience of flying in the UK.
  • Must be able to pass an EASA, FAA and UK military aviation medical.
  • Able to identify when safety within the flying environment may be compromised and can be relied upon to act decisively to improve aviation safety.
  • The role will have significant UK MoD and wider Boeing interface and therefore a person who is diplomatic whilst being strong minded is required.

Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Detailed technical knowledge of UK Chinook helicopters. The candidate would also benefit from experience on other rotary / fixed wing aircraft.
  • EASA or FAA Commercial Pilot's Licence or equivalent.
  • A UK military CFS instructional or EASA FI qualification is desirable but not crucial.
  • Experimental Test Pilot Qualification is desirable but not crucial.
  • Experience in operating uncrewed aerial systems is desirable but not crucial.
  • Able to optimally implement and seek opportunities to improve strategies, processes and project plans. Assist with removal of obstacles by identifying where help is needed and coordinating with the appropriate leaders and team members.
