We are looking to recruit two Senior Network Services Analysts. One will be joing our Cloud Services team and the other will be joining our Continuous Improvement Team

The IT & Digital department is responsible for the force’s adoption and use of information and digital technology.

 

The department consists of three core functions as follows:

 

Architecture Management (responsible for identifying and selecting the right technologies for the force) Delivery Management (responsible for delivering and implementing the right technologies for the force) Service Management (responsible for managing and maintaining all live, operational technology for the force) The Service Management function within IT & Digital is responsible for the effective operation, support and maintenance of existing, operational technology systems, including but not limited to all Force applications, technology infrastructure (e.g. servers, databases, networks) and end-user devices (e.g. desktop PC’s, smartphones, tablets, Airwave terminals). This function manages, and has responsibility for, the security, capability, availability, and performance of all operational technology in the ‘live’ environment whether it is delivered via internal resources or by external suppliers. This function is also responsible for ensuring existing technology remains fit-for-purpose and reflects continuously evolving requirements from the force.

 

The Network Services team is responsible for the Force’s network infrastructure including the provision of Airwave, Telephony, Local and National Network Access – all of which are required to deliver and support properly engineered IT services and products essential to meeting the needs of the force.

 

The post holder will work within the Network Services Team to ensure it is able to carry out its specific responsibilities.

 

Senior Analysts will be primarily responsible for providing expert advice across a range of disciplines within the scope of their teams, developing new processes and technology to support the Force.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support a variety of Network Services Technology;
  • Provide specialist technical skills and knowledge that facilitate the provision, configuration and support of force networks;
  • Manage the security, availability, capability, and performance of the force’s networks;
  • Take the lead on relevant incident, configuration, availability, capacity, continuity and release management in line with the ITIL framework;
  • Take ownership of major incidents, major changes, and major releases;
  • Maintain standards for security of information;
  • Ensure the performance of the Force networks and associated technologies meet or exceed agreed Service Level Agreements, ensuring technology is maintained, serviced, and repaired as required;

Essential:

Must demonstrate proven experience and ability to:

  • Provide technical expertise as required in one or more of the following areas:
    • Data network technology
    • Voice network technology and telephony
    • Airwave
    • ICCS
    • Firewall technology
  • Manage, coordinate and support force networks and other associated technologies;
  • Create and maintain technical documentation to high standards;
  • Flexibility to use a variety of supporting technologies and to be innovative;
  • Ability to coach and develop staff within the team;

 

Desirable:

  • An IT related qualification, or demonstrable skills in an IT environment;
  • ITIL Foundation certificate or demonstrable skills that the ITIL principles are understood in the context of the role.
  • An understanding of the ITIL processes as they apply to the team and to the department as a whole.

Vetting 
Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Medical
Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
