Professional Services is the consulting arm of Micro Focus and supports customers through the installation, configuration, integration, and support of Micro Focus products. We deliver solutions to some of the top brand names worldwide and to various government departments in high security areas.
Micro Focus is undertaking a range of client projects to help drive efficiencies and provide improved IT services, particularly in Service Management and other ITIL functions.
As part of this portfolio of work, we require a disciplined and skilled Technical Consultant with solid experience in software configuration and integration. The successful candidate will work as part of a small team, working in close conjunction with other teams both within the customer organisation and within the larger Micro Focus organisation, to install and configure Asset Management tooling based on specific customer requirements.
Ideally the candidate will have skills and experience with the following Micro Focus software (listed in order of preference):
- Micro Focus AMX/SMAX (required)
- Micro Focus Configuration Management System (CMS)/UCMDB
- Micro Focus Connect-It
- Micro Focus Test Tools including ALM Octane, Load Runner and UFT
- Micro Focus Asset Manager
The role will be responsible for:
- Installation and configuration of a range of Micro Focus asset management tools and associated integrations.
- Investigating, diagnosing, and remediating complex technical issues.
- Developing and maintaining integrations with connected 3rd party systems.
- Producing and reviewing technical documentation.
- Maintaining and updating design documentation to reflect changes.
- Implementing software upgrades and new interfaces.
- Communicating with Micro Focus Support and Product Development teams.
- Working in an agile fashion whilst creating, maintaining, and updating a backlog of work items.
- Creation of test scripts for backlog items and unit testing completed work.
- Regular reporting of progress to project leadership.
Person Profile
This role requires the candidate to be familiar with working autonomously alongside Customers and project partners, exercising own judgement as part of day to day working.
- Able to demonstrate experience of troubleshooting and diagnosis of technical issues.
- Able to demonstrate excellent team-working skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all stakeholder levels.
- Ability to work under pressure and make rational decisions considering relevant risks and taking responsibility for such decisions.
- Specific knowledge of secure government operations and ways of working.
- Background in Service Management Capabilities and experience of working with Service Management toolsets.
- Experience of working with personnel in a cross-organisation environment is highly desirable.
Other Information
- Service – Candidate/Contractor should be prepared to work onsite in a highly secure environment, in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures and working to Customer-driven deadlines.
- Hours – 37.5 hours per week however there may be times when additional hours are needed in order to meet contractual requirements.
- Tenure – Candidate/Contractor will need to work around key project events and commit to providing a minimum number of days per contract duration.
- Location – As required by the role, will include travel to customer, 3rd party and/or Micro Focus sites, and other as necessary. Flexibility in working from home is permitted, if the work allows. Travel outside of the UK Mainland is not required.
- Expenses – This role is inside IR35. Travel to a customer site (other than the agreed main location) would be covered by expenses.
- Clearance – DV Clearance is required for this role and must be maintained.
