Database Administrator – Gloucestershire or London – Permanent – £45,000 - £65,000 per annum – DV Clearance or Willing to Undergo DV Clearance

 

Our client supplies IT services to Government and Defence clients in the Southwest and London and are looking for a number of Database Administrators at varying skill levels. 

 

The successful candidate will include optimising and tuning database performance and assisting in database migration.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious DBA who wants to work with super secure clients who really make a difference!

 

This is a hybrid role with 3 days on site per week.

 

The Key Responsibilities of a Database Administrator:

 

  • Installing and configuring database binaries.
  • Writing and maintaining scripts to automate DBA tasks.
  • Investigating and implementing automation of processes.
  • Perform routine, periodic, and proactive operation and monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot database related issues.
  • Perform patching and upgrades to ensure data security.

 

Below is a list of Key Skills required for the Database Administrator role, however you will not be expected to have everything:

 

  • 3+ years’ administration experience in a database technology such as Oracle, MongoDB, MySQL, etc.
  • Experience of OS such as Linux, RHEL and Windows Server.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure. Knowledge of database monitoring tools, such as OEM and Nagios.
  • Experience in scripting, such as Python, Powershell or Shell.
  • Knowledge of database server clustering, failover, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience in database replication software, such as Data Guard, Replication Manager for PostgreSQL, and MongoDB ReplicaSets.
  • Experience in backup/recovery procedures and scripting.
