The difference our new Senior Mechanical Engineer will make

As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. An exciting opportunity for a talented, enthusiastic, and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join the Weapons Technical Team based at Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth. You'll be working in a growing team undertaking technical activities to support all weapon systems supported at CWEW (Laser Weapon Integration, 4.5" Gun, Phalanx, Triper and future bid opportunities).

Day to day, you'll develop design task proposals and requirements and create conceptual and detailed design solutions to improve availability, reliability, and maintainability. You'll engage with through life support, production and project managers to arrange factory and on-board trials to test prototype designs and identify areas for improvement for factory processes, tooling and test equipment.

Essential experience

• Mechanical Degree, or HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering Discipline with demonstrable experience and capability.
• Experience working with DEF STAN/ BS EN/ BR is desirable.
• Proven experience of RN operations or support activities would be advantageous.
• Experience with operation or maintenance of Naval Weapon Systems is preferred.
• Experience working with mechanical design processes, procedures and tools from concept through to trial and roll-out desired.
• You must be able to achieve BPSS with the ability to later obtain SC status clearance
