Role description:

 

We require an experienced Senior Project Manager to work on the PICASSO Systems Integration Team (P-SIT) contract with our client. The role will be embedded within and working for and alongside the client project team, with responsibility for aspects of project delivery. The work will be part of a well-established programme supporting the client team as the customer-friend to support the client’s portfolio of project delivery. The successful incumbent will have experience of working within our client’s acquisition framework covering various aspects of the whole lifecycle, so this means project definition, assurance and approvals, support to competitive tendering process. The role will involve supporting business case development and approval, developing Dynamic Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (DPQQ) and Invitations To Tender (ITT) documentation as well as support tender evaluation processes.

 

The type of individuals we are looking for will be self-starters who strives to achieve outcomes, comfortable working alongside the client teams within their defined acquisition processes with solid experience of project delivery within Defence as well as excellent communication and consultative skills. The role will also require working in a highly collaborative environment.

 

The projects themselves involve the definition and delivery of IT systems and services, using both agile and traditional methodologies. As such the Senior Project Manager will require prior knowledge of ICT delivery in Defence, an understanding of acquisition and approvals practice from previous roles with Defence, a familiarity with the ITIL Service Management lifecycle, and experience of both traditional project management and SAFe Agile practices.  The positions can be based remotely or out of our CGI Bristol office, with some travel required to locations such as Corsham, Northwood and Farnborough.

 

The role involves:

 

  • Leading project delivery on behalf of the Project Management team.
  • The production of project management artefacts (schedules, risk analysis, cost models etc) and acquisition products (business cases, assurance documentation etc) and the oversight of the production of technical documentation (architecture, requirements, designs etc).
  • Running a Defence ICT competition following Defence commercial processes and best practice, working collaboratively with Defence commercial teams.
  • Strong collaborative skills and good relationship management with key stakeholders in Defence, their customers and with other industry partners.
  • Ensuring our commitments are fulfilled to a high level of quality and client satisfaction
  • Prior knowledge of ICT delivery in Defence is highly desirable.
  • Experience of working in the Defence acquisition environment is strongly preferred, and familiarity with Defence systems at higher classifications is important.

The successful candidate must:

 

  • Extensive experience in project delivery experience in Defence, with proven experience on tasks involving the design, delivery and/or support of ICT systems
  • Have confidence working in a client-side advisory role, and as a relationship manager
  • Have the flexibility to travel, to meet regular commitments in Bristol and farther afield
