The role of a PMO Manager
The role of the PMO Manager is to define and maintain the standards for project management within their organisation. This includes the implementation and sharing of best practice as well as the development and application of project procedures, tools and techniques in order to standardise methodologies and realise economies. The PMO Manager provides expert guidance, support and insight on the project, and acts as the source of all project information and metrics.

Key Deliverables
    Delivery of objectives is aligned to organisational objectives.  Benefits can be realised to time, cost and quality. Risks and issues are being managed or escalated.  Outcomes and enabling outputs are defined and agreed.  Experience and lessons are captured, shared and used to promote future performance improvement. Work, or information requests can be joined up across HOCS to minimise impact on stakeholders and to facilitate progress with current and future projects. Appropriate challenge is directed at the project Delivery Managers. There is weekly reporting to the Senior Management Team.

Other Deliverables
    Develop a suite of HOCS PMO products, in line with the Government Functional Standard and internal guidance provided by the HO Project Delivery Framework, suitably adapted for HOCS projects. Ensure that there is appropriate governance of projects across HOCS for all new projects, and an appropriate level of retrospective compliance for existing workstreams. This may include a PMO board, incorporating change management authorisation and deep dives. Work with projects to ensure dependencies are clear and benefits are measurable. Undertake significant stakeholder mapping and work with the Engagement team to minimise the impact of multiple information requests. Develop appropriate reporting to aid transparency for senior managers. Publicise the project work, in an easily understandable way, for a wider audience.
