Senior Automation Tester

Intel Business Development Campaign

As a NS&D Intel Portfolio Automation Tester Development you will be required to develop and maintain automation test scripts and test reporting using both industry standard automation test suites and custom developed frameworks within a fully operational test system. The testing process will follow an agile development and release process that supports critical customer mission goals in the area of National Security using manual and automated testing techniques and tools.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work independently, or with a team of software and systems engineers; must be knowledgeable in industry-standard testing tools and methodologies.
  • Edit, create, maintain, and debug automated test scripts written in Python, assist with creation of test plans, procedures and reports detailing the test process and infrastructure to appropriately assess that products/deliverables meet defined requirements.
  • Use custom built automated test tools and operate in a secure environment.
  • Edit and run automated test scripts, and create automated and manual test scripts for processes that are not yet automated.
  • Maintain and enhance automated test scripts, as needed for applications in run & maintain
  • Establish the test approach and defect tracking workflow (primarily automated tests, augmented with manual tests when necessary) for multiple development scrum teams
  • Contribute to the scrum teams, participate in daily scrums, and be proactive on work tasks and obstacle resolution
  • Must be a dynamic, innovative, self-starting problem solver that can operate with minimal supervision.

Key Skills

  • Experience in functional automation tools and technologies including Selenium WebDriver, UFT, JUnit, Cucumber, Gherkin, TestNG, RestAssured, REST API etc.
  • Experience in API testing and automation.
  • Experience in performing Load and Stress testing.
  • Expert level hands-on knowledge of load testing tools Load runner and Apache JMeter.
  • Experience automating end to end tests spanning the whole system from front end to backend/database.
  • Must have working experience of any programming languages: e.g., Python, Java, C, C++, C#, Assembly, etc
  • Expertise in working with Xpaths, XML and JSON formats.
  • Experience in building and maintaining test automation frameworks Selenium, Selenium Grid, HP Load Runner, Visual Studio, Robot Automation or Parasoft SOATest
  • Good understanding of CI/CD practices
  • Hands on experience is using SCM (Software Configuration Management) tools such Maven, Github, Bitbucket etc. and continuous Integration tool Jenkins.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum methodology and tools (such as Version One, Rally, or JIRA)
  • Knowledge of modern testing best practices, tools, techniques, implementation and integration with legacy systems.
  • Knowledge and expertise in service virtualization and test automation tool usage, training and troubleshooting guidance.
  • Excellent communication and written skills.
  • Ability to communicate with senior executive leadership (internally or client) regarding matters of strategic importance to the organization/project.
  • Ability to negotiate and compromise to convince internal and external parties to accept concepts, practices and approaches of the area.
  • Excellent understanding of the Testing Lifecycle and the different types of testing such as Functional and Integration Testing.
  • Demonstrable Systems Integration experience including integrating 3rd party systems or components.
  • Able to understand existing Test Process and identify improvements and efficiencies.
  • Experience of creating Test Cases based on requirements and design documents.
  • Extensive experience with software testing frameworks (e.g. Katalon Studio, Selenium, SoapUI, Junit, DART, or similar)
  • Agile workload management and bug tracking (e.g. Jira, BitBucket, or similar)
  • Experience working in a regulated environment testing
  • Strong oral and written communication skills - ability to communicate with technical and non-technical team members.
  • Self-motivated and willing to speak to colleagues to find out missing information;
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, troubleshooting attitude with a willingness to learn new technologies;

Desired Skills:

  • Working with large-scale and complex integration programmes;
  • Performance testing and measurement of integrated systems.
  • Organizing/supporting user acceptance testing (UAT) prior to Production deployment
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery tools
  • Negative testing concepts and risk assessment reporting
  • Code quality scans (e.g., SonarQube)

Location/ Clearance

The role will be a 'homeworking', but may require extended periods on customer site or Leidos offices depending on engagement / business need. Local arrangements can be agreed with the portfolio director or delegate. You should hold or be eligible to hold UKIC DV.
