Every year, cyber criminals steal billions of pounds – but we’re working hard to stop them. As a Financial Investigator & Confiscator, you’ll help us find stolen assets and bring offenders to justice. With your help, we can remove the proceeds of crime from high-level organised criminal networks. Join the Metropolitan Police Service’s Cyber Crime Unit (MPCCU) and make sure crime doesn’t pay.

The MPCCU focuses on the most serious offences of cybercrime, including malicious software (malware), ransomware, network intrusion, website defacement, and denial of service attacks. The Unit is based in the MPS’s Central Specialist Crime team, and operations include sensitive, high-profile national and international enquiries.

An NDA-accredited professional, you’ll conduct high-level financial investigations with the aim of disrupting organised and violent crime. It’s a challenge that involves collaboration with a wide range of contacts, including victims, suspects, witnesses, banks, the CPS and HM Revenue & Customs. Once you’ve collected evidence, you’ll work with CPS lawyers to bring a case, leading to the seizure and confiscation of stolen assets.

Day to day, you’ll be interrogating open-source databases, analysing data, and applying for restraint and confiscation orders. You’ll therefore need proven expertise plus awareness of relevant legislation and policy. If you’re an experienced financial investigator with strong communication skills, join us and help stop cyber criminals in their tracks.

Now more than ever is the time to join the Met Police. We want our team to be representative of London and are looking to recruit people who understand and reflect the diverse communities we engage with every day.

Besides the rewarding nature of the job itself, a competitive salary, and a Civil Service pension, you'll also benefit from excellent career and professional development. If you’re looking to progress, this is an outstanding opportunity. Please note that this role is subject to security vetting.
