Role Summary

This leadership role is an integral part of the Boeing Sheffield production system. Fundamental to this role is being able to calmly and effectively manage a diverse team across multiple machining work centres. You will also need the ability to manage upwards and across the business to influence other functions to achieve business goals. You will need to demonstrate proven ability to motivate and lead a team, achieving buy-in to any required changes and be able to provide engagement via clear communication and influencing skills. You will possess excellent people-management and mentoring skills, with the ability to support and develop staff in an new start up business entering a period of significant growth.

A hands-on production specialist you will get involved and lead from the front, providing problem solving capability and nurturing teamwork and cross-functional cooperation to enable a smooth-running production facility. Driven by results you will possess a flexible attitude, able to deliver change and strive for continual improvement in all areas of the business. You will possess a good knowledge of Health & Safety requirements and general HR processes and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have operated as a manufacturing/production operations manager in a high precision machining environment for an extensive period of time and having gained this experience in what it takes to produce quality parts on time in full, is able to transfer that experience and expertise into the Boeing Sheffield Facility.

This role requires working a shift pattern of 1x week of mornings followed by 1 x week of afternoons:

Mornings

Monday to Friday [0600 - 1345] = 37.5 hours

Afternoons

Monday to Thursday [1345 - 2215]

Friday ONLY - [1345 - 1915] = 37.5 hours

Core Responsibilities:

  • Day to day management of all Production operations on site
  • Maintain Safety and Quality standards
  • Ensure work performed is to the schedule
  • Ensure documents and processes are in place and adhered to
  • Work to and maintain performance against business KPI's
  • Train and mentor team members

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Decision Making / Problem Solving - Using processes that ensure broad thinking about all situations and issues;
  • Teamwork - Considering the success of the team as well as individuals;
  • Open Two-way Communications - The free flow of continuous, direct and candid communications;
  • Flexibility / Adaptability / Change - Appropriate behavioural responses, work adjustments and coping mechanisms are expected for individuals and teams especially during the 'start-up phase' of Boeing Sheffield as the site begins its journey to full rate operation.
  • Development / Engagement - Fully involved in one's work to foster organizational interests as well as promoting self-development and growth.
  • Proactivity - Must be proactive in maintaining a safe, incident and injury free work environment and champion quality improvement activities
  • Knowledge of Lean transformational tactics and strategies to drive standardization and continuous improvement throughout the organization
  • Have good detailed knowledge of Production machinery and technologies in a high precision environment
  • Have prior experience in operational and people management
  • Experience of driving OEE
  • Must be able to work a shift pattern

Preferred Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent is preferred
