As a real-time Embedded Software Engineer, you'll play a vital role in solving our clients’ biggest challenges. You’ll get involved across the entire Software Development Lifecycle, developing, delivering, and supporting bespoke software solutions. As we are a consultancy, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects with us.

What you can bring?

To be successful in this role, you will -

  • You should either hold a degree in a relevant STEM subject or have proven and demonstrable work experience within a relevant area.
  • Have experience of the full software lifecycle including requirements capture, design, development, test, and managing traceability across these activities.
  • Be able to demonstrate practical technical experience of software development using C/C++ for real time embedded applications.
  • Be able to demonstrate practical technical experience of software verification using relevant tools for developing Requirements Based Testing, developing Design Based Testing (unit testing), and to provide static analysis and the application of safe programming subsets (e.g., MISRA standards).
  • Be comfortable writing reports and technical documentation.
  • Be a strong collaborator, able to work effectively in a small team where frequent communication is essential.
  • Be pro-active and a self-starter, able to work independently.
  • Ideally have experience configuring (and developing for) at least one real time operating system.
  • Experience developing for Linux would also be advantageous.
  • Developing High Integrity Software to comply with standards (e.g. DO-178, ISO 61508) would be advantageous but is not essential.

Your purpose:

As a real-time/embedded Software Engineer in with Atkins, you will:

  • Develop real-time and embedded software solutions and prototypes, working in small teams applying Agile development and delivery methods.
  • Apply your knowledge to contribute to the design of technical solutions.
  • Engage with clients, stakeholders and Product Owners.
  • Document the design, development and delivery of technical solutions.
  • Mentor junior staff to aid their development.
