Devonport:
The Industrial Coatings Applicator Apprenticeship is based at Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

Industrial Coatings Applicator Apprenticeship:
Industrial Coatings Applicators work in a play a key role in protecting the nations marine craft from deterioration for the benefit of existing and future generations. They are required to prepare the surface of new or existing steel structures to remove any contamination, mill scale, rust, or unsound existing coatings, and apply the appropriate corrosion protection coatings to specified standards. A competent industrial coatings applicator will be able to undertake the role safely and without supervision.

Possible placements:
Apprentices will spend their time onsite at Devonport where the training provider will visit you on a regular basis to assess your progress.

Qualifications you'll gain:
On completion of your training programme and the End Point Assessment, you will gain a nationally recognised apprenticeship certificate as a Level 2 Industrial Coatings Applicator.

What you'll need:
A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4/C or above, including Maths and English.
Security clearance: Security Check (SC)
