Clyde
The Fabricator Welder is based within our Clyde business area.
As the Ministry of Defence's commercial partner at HMNB Clyde, Babcock provides specialist engineering support services, including the management of infrastructure and nuclear facilities. We also deliver operational maintenance, upgrades and repairs to support Royal Navy vessels, including the Vanguard and Astute-Class nuclear submarines.
The role
The difference our new Fabricator Welder will make
As a Fabricator Welder you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. As Engineering Support Fabricator Welder you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary providing round the clock support to HM Vessels and warships in order to deliver continued support.
You will undertake fabrication and structural activities on systems and equipment on all RN and other entitled Vessels and, when required, in other sections including the Estate. Includes the fitment of Auxiliary Support Equipment.
Day to day, you'll be responsible for the completion of all Engineering Support work packages to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business and the continued availability and performance of HMNB Clyde Submarines, Surface Vessels and the Estate. Ensuring that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity in accordance with set objectives and timescales. Working within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems of Work and control of work processes within BM&T Clyde policies.
Please not you will need to be comfortable working in confined spaces and with vibrating tools

Essential experience
• Recognised Fabricator Welder Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ and C&G equivalent) or HNC and above in an Fabricator Welder Engineering discipline with industry experience.
• Proven Fabricator Welder Experience
• Interpretation of engineering drawings
• You should hold or have the ability to obtain SC Clearance
