AWE is currently recruiting for an Electronics Engineer to join the Electromagnetics Engineering Team. The team support multiple AWE programmes and operate across sites and functions. This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer looking for a role that offers an established career development pathway in an Electronics based environment.

This is a great opportunity to join a team responsible for ensuring that the UK Nuclear deterrent is assured as safe for its full lifecycle. The role will be influencing the next generation of nuclear deterrence as well as maintaining the current evidence for the existing products to the end of service life.

As a member of the Electromagnetics Engineering team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to: 

    Contribute to the production and delivery of high-quality technical documentation, including test plans, reports and procedures Support the Senior Engineers and Task Management in scoping, planning, and estimating future activities Test installations, equipment and systems  Analyse/record data Actively seek to fill gaps in knowledge regarding Electromagnetic Engineering including Electromagnetic Compatibility, Electrostatic Discharge & Electromagnetic Fields Demonstrate excellent customer facing skills with both internal and external stakeholders Organise personal training and development under the guidance of a professional mentor 


We would love to hear from an excellent communicator who possesses a STEM vocational qualification, supported by considerable practical experience or equivalent. 

To be considered for the role, the ideal candidate would have the following essential criteria:

    Electrical/electronic engineering experienceExperience of EMC testingAwareness of relevant commercial and defence EMC standards Ability to work efficiently as a self-directed individual or part of a team  Competent in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)  Experience in preparing technical documentation Proven track record of delivery 

In addition, it would be desirable for candidates to have the following:

    Experience working in an electromagnetic engineering position Membership of a professional institution 
  • Experience teaching/training others 


Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role.
