Data Analyst

SPA has an immediate requirement for a Data Analyst who can help the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence (MOD) transform how it manages cyber risk at the enterprise level. You will help to develop meaningful measurements of cybersecurity risk at departmental level and assist the BAU metrics team with importing metrics data into central risk management tooling. You will also work with the Business Analyst to develop Risk Indicators (RIs) and document data requirements / gaps.

Remote working is viable with the possible occasional travel to Corsham and London.  Off payroll rules apply (inside IR35) for this opportunity.

Role:

• Data Identification, Analysis & Classification: To conduct investigation activities to identify viable datasets to help measure MOD’s cyber risk and document them appropriately.
• Data Cleansing & Import: To clean new datasets and prepare them for import to MOD’s risk tooling.
• Data Visualisation & Analysis: To develop meaningful visualisations and analysis products to support assessment of MOD’s strategic cyber risk.
• Tooling Use Case Development: To work with MOD’s cyber risk tooling (STREAM) and support staff to transfer the existing risk assessment methodology from excel to STREAM.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Experience with integrating datasets and data import techniques.
• Experience with data visualisation techniques and software (including PowerBI).
• IT literacy and confidence to adapt to new software.
• Due to nature of role, must be UK national only (no dual)
• Must be in possession of an active UK Secret (or above) security clearance.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

• A broad knowledge of how Defence Operates.
• Experience of working in the MOD.
• Cybersecurity, governance or risk management experience.
• DV security clearance.
• Experience with STREAM software or similar risk management software.
