We are responsible for engaging the public and the media on a wide variety of policing operations, from serious and violent crime to neighbourhood policing, producing news and appeals on all types of crime, working with the best documentary makers in the country and enhancing public confidence by developing engaging communications for diverse communities across our 10 districts.

We engage with the public and delivering two-way conversations, we work to build public, staff and stakeholder trust and confidence by making sure people are informed and involved.

The Role

We are recruiting the post of Digital Developer, this is a technical role which involves developing the content, framework and infrastructure of GMP's online presence, including websites, intranet, smartphone apps and social media across relevant platforms.

This involves administering GMPs internal and external web servers and website updates, ensuring that all digital services are compatible across common web browsers on mobile and desktop and supporting a range of services to assist GMP in providing a better service to our online community.

The post holder will work closely with GMP's Information Services Branch and Information Security to ensure security of GMP sites are maintained and to maximise possible uptime.

The post-holder will also develop in-house systems using appropriate platforms (e.g. Domino, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, WordPress, iOS or Android), XML, SQL from design to development and production with ongoing support, liaising with other key business areas within GMP.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced web developer with the technical ability to develop for iOS and Android and the latest web browsers and digital content for social media as well as the ability to ensure maintenance internal and external web servers.
