The Environmental Advisor is based within our Networks Rail business area.

The role
The difference our new Environmental Advisor will make

As an Environmental Advisor, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will drive sustainability and environmental performance forwards and ensure the contracts objectives and targets are met and exceeded within a sustainability and environmental context.

You'll visit sites once or twice a week to survey sites to identify ecological and environmental points of interest. Collecting and collating environmental and waste information on Site, analysing data, and creating reports You'll also provide advice on sustainability and environmental legislative and contractual compliance for the project. Identify training needs for internal colleagues and providing in-house training when and where required. Investigating events on Site and leading root-cause analyses and corrective/preventative action programmes.

This role is based on site at Hamilton and will involve working nightshifts walking the track, in all weather conditions, on a regular basis as well as, flexible working on sites across Scotland.

Essential experience
  • Experienced with hands on environmental checks.
  • Enthusiasm for continuous improvements and self-motivated approach.
  • Hold an IEMA Certificate (Associate level or above) and hold a membership for an environmental professional body i.e., IEMA.(Associate or Full) - or working towards is advantageous.
  • Must be able to pass relevant security clearance.
