Our IT Environments team are responsible for the management of all Live Service, Production Support and Development and Test Environments for this large Account, and manage the Environment Request process to build new infrastructure and virtual machines / environments for programmes and projects, and work closely with all stakeholders providing environment governance, configuration and integrity; maintaining communication to ensure these environments are accessible.  We are looking for a Team Leader to manage the Apps Environments Team and ensure that service delivery levels and project commitments are met.

This role is hybrid, working two days per week from our Glasgow, Blackpool, Newcastle, York, Newport OR Gosport site.

What you'll be doing:

  • Management of the Environments team and Patch Coordinator, including all people care activities
  • Ensure all development and production environments are available for use at the correct build on the agreed dates
  • Ensure that the patching strategy for Oracle, RDBMS, Applications, and Infrastructure products is maintained and aligned into the environment refresh plan
  • Custodian of environment access at both database and application level
  • Ensure team specific performance measures are met
  • Ensure compliance within the Environments team with all account and security processes
  • Attend team meetings with the Apps Delivery Manager
  • Chair Apps Environments Team meetings
  • Conduct Performance Appraisal Assessments and Objective setting for all team members
  • Support the Service Delivery Managers
  • Assist with resourcing requirements and on-boarding new staff
  • Cross-training and knowledge transfer to existing members of staff within Apps to facilitate removal of single points of failure

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience in leading a team to meet organisational objectives
  • Significant experience in Environment provisioning with knowledge of System and Infrastructure deployments
  • Good people management skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work across different technical and business teams
  • Ability to work with stakeholders of all levels

It would be great if you had:

  • Exposure to Software Development Lifecycle and a good understanding of Infrastructure platforms with IBM and Oracle system configurations being highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of Cloud based environment provision and management
  • An understanding of the various tasks and activities undertaken within the Apps Environments team
