VMware DevOps Systems Engineer

DES are looking for a VMware DevOps Systems Engineer to work on some exciting new and innovative projects within the UK Defence industry. As a VMware DevOps Systems Engineer, you will be working with dedicated engineering teams to configure and deploy the next generation systems. You will be working closely with multiple project stakeholders to define, detail, design and develop appropriate infrastructure service solutions to meet our customer’s needs.

The Role 

• Developing and testing IT solutions for development and production environments
• Developing and testing VDI solutions
• Developing and testing Virtual Machine solutions (VMware)
• Software, vSphere, VMware, desirable: C sharp, Zabbix, bmboo
• Scripting languages, ideally Python and PowerShell,
• Infrastructure hardware (physical rack mounted equipment).
• Admin functions within a virtualised environment including virtual resource management and HA and DRS, clustering and performance monitoring.

Key Accountabilities & Deliverables 

• Deliver compliant technical solutions against contractual requirements and regulations.
• Design documentation generated, captured, configured, and controlled in accordance with company processes.
• Engineering LCM adherence for all deliverables, Sub Contract Design Reviews and relevant input to project LCM activities

Qualifications & Experience 

• 5 years experience as a DevOps engineer
• Knowledge of IT systems in the defence, maritime or closely linked domain and have a comprehensive understanding of how their own systems and activities interact with the overall platform.
• Knowledge of the complete engineering lifecycle with some experience of operating in a number of phases.
• Solid scripting knowledge
• VMware experience
