we are currently working with one of the largest defence contractors in Europe, who require an experienced and capable Project Controller / Project Support, to join their team on a permanent basis.

This role will be a predominantly remote based role, with occasional travel to the clients' offices in either Christchurch, Dorset, or Yeovil, Somerset; 2 to 3 times per month. 

Project Controller

You will be a vital member of this team, responsible for developing and maintaining MS Project schedules across the portfolio, monitoring and updating the status of the Project, being responsible for providing the Project Control business tools, to ensure that we have a clear understanding of the business financial forecasts and resourcing requirements using standard toolsets across the business.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to be part of the full project life cycle, giving you knowledge and experience of the end-to-end picture.  You will be provided with the opportunity to train and develop into a Project Management role.

What you'll be doing:

  • Reporting of project status to team members, leadership and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring accurate data is available for the monthly performance reporting cycle
  • Developing and tracking project schedules
  • Development of management reports and metrics
  • Oversees the implementation of the appropriate project control processes and checks that they are operating accurately and effectively
  • Engages with Customers (Account Managers, Senior PMs and cross Functional) and continuously improve how project control is applied
  • Good understanding of the Business environment for Line of Business or project, its markets, customers, strategic priorities and culture
  • As part of the project team you will be expected to work closely with team members, and support the team and/or project leadership in daily activities

Your skills and experience:

  • Project tracking and reporting techniques
  • Planning and scheduling – particularly MSP 2016
  • Working to quality standards and qualifications thinking and problem solving
  • Communication, influencing and inter-personal skills
  • Strategic planning, risk management and change management
  • Project management techniques and tools
  • Project Management qualification or relevant experience would be ideal 

Our client is also offering an excellent salary of up to £32,000 per annum + a competitive and flexible benefits package. We have also been advised that the client would be looking to put successful applicants through the security clearance process, if security clearance is not currently held.
