Defence Equipment
The Vehicle Mechanic role is based within our Defence Equipment business area.

Defence equipment stores, maintains, repairs and overhauls military vehicles and equipment so the UK army is able to train and deploy in a moment. As well as supporting vehicles that are already in service, the team carries out vehicle assembly integration and tests new vehicles.

The role
The difference our new Vehicle Mechanic will make
As a Vehicle Mechanic, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will carry out the inspection, servicing, repair and overhaul of a wide range of military vehicles, assemblies, electrical, small arms, armament and general equipment.

Day to day, you'll carry out work to the required standard and specification as detailed on the job card in accordance with the customer requirements, current regulations, local instructions, processes and technical publications. This will include the diagnostic, inspection and assessment of vehicles and associated mechanical / electrical equipment in line skills & competency.

You will also ensure all job transactions are accurately recorded and carried out in accordance with current ERP processes and that work completed and time taken to complete the job is submitted daily to the department / section Supervisor.

Essential experience
• You will need to hold a NVQ Level 3 Service and Repair
• It would be ideal if you came from HGV or Garage background
• Previous experience within similar role is required
• Hydraulics experience is needed
• You will need to be able to follow up on and take responsibility for unresolved issues or escalations
• Ability to develop effective relationships internally at a variety of levels
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
• You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
