Contract Type: Full Time, 37 Hours a week

At RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, Serco has been providing multi-activity and engineering support since 1997. Serco proudly support the RAF and MoD, supplying around 20 different services onsite, from engine and aircraft maintenance, to fuelling and ground control services. RAF Brize Norton is the largest operating base within the Royal Air Force, providing air transport and air-to-air refuelling to the RAF fleet, you will contribute enormously to the vital work carried out here. You'll also be part of the wider team, with 5,800 service personnel, 1,200 contractors and 300 civil servants on site.

We are recruiting for an Oxygen Bay Supervisor to maintain and manage the Oxygen Bay at RAF Brize Norton.

The Serco Oxygen Bay is responsible to the RAF Oxygen Bay Management for:

  • Maintaining C-130 Hercules Aircraft Oxygen equipment.


  • Maintaining Airborne Forces Oxygen equipment.


  • Supervision of Staff Maintaining Oxygen Equipment. (Sign Second Signature).


  • Carrying out Local "On the Job" Training for Oxygen Equipment.


Key accountabilities

  • Provide support to the RAF Brize Norton Oxygen Bay Team. Mon - Fri 37 Hrs per week. Start Time 0800hrs.
  • Ensure they deliver effective, efficient, "right first time every time" output to our customers. Ensure that they remain authorised, competent to certify the work and complete the tasks.Ensure their records of training and experience is kept and available for update and review.
  • Ensuring good maintenance practices are in place and where appropriate compliance with Authority requirements.
  • Ensure the compliance with appropriate Quality Systems.
  • Ensure appropriate cooperation and compliance with all internal, external and independent audit activities.
  • Ensure they retain an effective working knowledge of current regulatory requirements. Including Serco Management System, appropriate MoD legislation and local Serco and RAF Brize Norton processes and procedures.
  • Notify the RAF Oxygen Bay Management and the Serco Engineering Bays Manager whenever deficiencies emerge that require their attention in respect of safety, risk compliance and engineering standards.
  • Continuous Improvement. Must drive for effectiveness, efficiency and improvements in the output and working environment.
  • Health and Safety. Must implement and promote a "Zero Harm" Open Safety Reporting Culture where all individuals are willing and able to report any issue or event which they believe has or could potentially lead to a Safety risk.


What you need to do the job:

  • Qualification. Q-A-OXY (or equivalent).


  • Be able to attain:


-LITS Post Cat 25 Documentation Controller

-JAMES Leading Maintainer.

-MoD Security Check (SC) Clearance.

  • The ability to successfully comply with MoD legislation, Serco and RAF Brize Norton processes and procedures.


  • Must understand the impact of maintenance activities decisions on safety.


  • Must have gained proven competence in the Aviation/ MoD Oxygen Equipment Maintenance environment.
