37.5 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days on rota basis

Salary £21,255 per annum (£10.90 per hour)

Here at Serco, we are looking for a Chef to join us at University Hospital Southampton. You will provide produce dishes in line with agreed menus & recipes for retail, functions (Special Diets) operations to the required standards and provide a friendly, efficient, and courteous service to both internal and external customers, demonstrating high standards of customer service and optimising retail sales at all times. As the Chef, you will also maintain food safety, cleanliness and hygiene standards within the department and monitor and maintain food presentation to the required standard within the retail operation.

The Chef will also participate as a full member of the team, e.g., supporting and training other staff, participating in team meetings, working flexibly as required to cover other members of the team. You will be expected to comment on and where possible contribute to menu planning and service development within the catering department.

Other duties will include storing goods correctly and use stock on a rotational basis to optimise sales and minimise food wastage and maintain portion control and assist in stock ordering and ensure all operational practices are undertaken to budgetary constraints.

What you'll need to do the role
You will have experience within a similar role and acquire a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (minimum). This role also requires good communication skills and an ability to work well under pressure.
