Here at Serco, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chef to join our vibrant team at Gatwick Immigration Removal Centre.

This is a key position where you will act as a role model to colleagues, managers, visitors and stakeholders by assisting the Catering Manager in the delivery of catering services to the establishment whilst ensuring Health and Safety and Food Hygiene Regulations are strictly observed and controlled. You will prepare and cook varied and healthy menus for detainees to include special diets, special day and religious events and perform random Quality Checks on serveries.

As Chef you will provide hospitality requirements when ordered by the company and ensure the security and food safety of all foodstuffs are maintained during delivery, storage and distribution. You will complete incident reports, intelligence reports, Use of Force paperwork and accident reports and assist in detainee movements and searches to and from the kitchen and wings.

What do you need to do in the role?

You will need to have large-scale catering experience such as armed forces or hospitals and have experience of working in a high-pressured catering operation and within tight deadlines. You will hold City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or equivalent NVQ or similar in Food preparation and Production and Food Safety level 2 or 3 (Essential).

You will be an excellent communicator both verbally and written, have strong interpersonal skills and will also have basic computer skills including knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook applications.

You will also have a wareness of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) and awareness of allergen control within catering.
