Due to continued business growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cloud focused Solution Architect to join Serco's MyTechnology team in Global Shared Business Services business division.
The successful candidate will get the opportunity work with the full Microsoft azure stack and help to design and deliver globally consumed solutions and services. Serco has been consuming public cloud services since 2017 and are now looking for intelligent, highly motivated individuals with cloud native experience to work with our cloud and hosting team and drive our cloud strategy forwards.
You will be responsible for leading the overall solution architecture for several workstreams, working closely with our technical teams, providing direction, guidance, and support to ensure the successful delivery of new solutions to the business.
Working in a wider project team, you will get the opportunity to take our outline business challenges, help define the requirements, and scope of the projects. You'll work with our project leads to define and prototype solutions in feasibility, secure the investment, develop new productised services, and take solutions through our review and sign-off process, finally overseeing the build of modern cloud native solutions that will have a real positive impact to our businesses and the public sector services we offer.

Key Responsibilities:

- Work with our project leads to take a business challenge and shape the requirements and scope for projects, and recommend solution options to stakeholders
- Specify the design and architecture for technology solutions to meet business and system requirements, within any identified constraints.
- Work with the Project Leads to support the development of project plans, helping to devise the implementation approach, reviewing estimates and schedules, and identifying risks.
- Support product procurement by identifying vendors and acting as a technical authority in the selection process.
Required Skills / Experience:
Essential knowledge in several of the following core technology areas:
- Experience defining & capturing requirements and shaping solutions into design lifecycle documents and delivery plans.- Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks and work in a large enterprise environment
- Confidence in workshop or governance fora to contribute, guide and challenge stakeholders to ensure all elements are adequately considered when making architectural decisions.- Microsoft Azure (certified solutions architect) with 3+ years' experience
- Windows Server OS / RHEL Linux
- Experience with the Microsoft Well Architected Framework
- Experience with the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework
- Experience with Database technologies (MS SQL, MySQL, NoSQL)
- Experience with Cloud Networking (NSG's, load balancers Firewalls & VWAN)
- An understanding of security architecture, principles, and best practice

Desirable knowledge:

- Experience with Windows Desktop (10/11)
- Experience with 365 product suites
- Experience with Windows Virtual Desktop & Citrix
- AWS Experience
- Microsoft packaging technologies
- VMWare Experience
- Networking (LAN / WAN)
