Our Client is currently seeking a Linux engineer with proven experience in an implementation / support role at 2nd /3rd line level to work within a project to virtualise servers & migrate them into a new data centre.

  • Some out of hours / weekend work will be required during migrations to minimise service disruption.
  • There will be close interaction with the Live Service Delivery team so that servers which are migrated meet the requirements of the team that will be supporting them going forward.
  • You will need to have significant x86 & vMware hardware experience and we will require very strong working knowledge and current experience of the operating system.
  • You will need possession of or ability to attain Yellow clearance.

Experience & Skills:

    • At least 5-10 years' experience of supporting (2nd to 3rd Line) Linux servers and platforms within large scale infrastructures (1000+ servers).
    • Significant x86 and vMware hardware experience
    • UNIX scripting skills
    • Knowledge of Linux (SLES, RHEL or OEL
    • Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager
    • Good understanding of Storage, Networking & Cloud computing technologies
    • Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication.
    • Have proven problem solving abilities.
    • Awareness of the ITIL Service Management framework and specifically incident and change management.

At least 1 of the following Certifications:

  • RHEL 6.x or 7.x System Administration
  • RHEL 6.x or 7.x System Advanced Administration
  • SLES 10.x, 11.x or 12.x System Administration
  • SLES 10.x, 11.x or 12.x System Advanced Administration
  • OEL 6.x or 7.x System Administration
  • OEL 6.x or 7.x System Advanced Administration
