£32,585 Per Annum

This contract is for our UK&E Justice & Immigration business with the UK Home Office Immigration Enforcement department to manage the Gatwick Immigration Removal Centres (IRC). Under the Gatwick IRC contract, we manage and operate both the Brook House and Tinsley House IRCs, as well as providing Pre-Departure Accommodation services.)

We are responsible for all aspects of resident safety, security and welfare provision (excluding healthcare services which will continue to be operated under a separate contract commissioned by NHS England), together with facilities management and catering.

We have an exciting opening here at Gatwick IRC for a Residential DOM. The role will be responsible for the daily oversight in the management of a function that provides decent accommodation and high standards of care for residents. The DOM will also lead on promoting a positive detention culture by demonstrating empathy, understanding and the ability to appropriately challenge where required.

Residential DOMs are also responsible for conflict resolution and incident management within their function and will work collaboratively with other departments and agencies to ensure residents have suitable and sufficient access to services and the regime.

The successful post holder will assist the wider operation of the Centre within the bounds of the contract and agreed procedures to achieve smooth running of the Centre. This includes contribute to the delivery and achievement of relevant performance measures, contract outcomes and locally agreed targets including KPIs.

A part of the role also involves coaching, supporting and empowering staff to maximise their performance and ensure values, ethical standards, equality and diversity, policies and procedures and contractual requirements are met.

What you'll need to do the role

Qualifications:

  • A relevant Management Qualification i.e. CMI level 3 or equivalent (desirable), or significant operational experience in a custodial setting (mandatory).


Technical:

  • Computer and typing skills inclusive of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point


Knowledge & Skills:

  • Demonstrates understanding of Detention Centre Rules, DSOs and commercial contract requirements.
  • Confident and credible, with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to influence, plan and organise to achieve high outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a win-win approach to collaboration and relationship and team building
