My client is looking for a Senior Consultant who can manage the GIS team and provide technical solution and deliverables on large multi-disciplinary teams who are delivering GIS solutions to clients in Aerospace, Defence and Critical National Infrastructure.
As a Senior GIS Consultant in Defence and Aerospace, you will be part of our clients’ growing Data Intelligence practice providing the organisation with innovative solutions that drive efficiencies, contribute to their Net Zero targets, and digitally transform their clients’ organisations.
You will be able to work remotely 50% of the time, with an expectation that you will spend some time in the office as well as visiting client sites if required.
Our client offers ‘through-life’ support to the MoD and equipment manufacturers, and because they don’t manufacture anything themselves, their clients can rely on them to offer independent and unbiased recommendations.
The Key Responsibilities of a Senior GIS Consultant:
- Be an effective manager of a GIS project team on large, high profile infrastructure projects (managing clients, scope, budget, technical solution, and people). Develop and support bid opportunities that require GIS support. Gathering client requirements and responding to tenders. Create and administer project Web Mapping applications, using both open source and proprietary software. Provide appropriate GIS analysis, data creation and management to support projects and disciplines in a dynamic, deadline driven environment to project and national standards. Create automations using FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) or python. Present GIS capability in presentations to stakeholders at all business levels.
Below is a list of Key Skills required for the Senior GIS Consultant, however you will not be expected to have everything:
- You have experience of managing GIS deliverables on large multi-disciplinary projects (scope, budget, people and technical solutions). You have extensive experience using ArcGIS 10.x and its extensions including ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro. Having experience in ArcGIS Enterprise and Portal for ArcGIS would be an advantage. You can communicate the benefits of GIS to various stakeholders for the purpose of business development. You are passionate, innovative and inquisitive about how GIS solutions can solve real-life problems by providing fresh solutions to client’s problems. You have experience managing people.

Please note that the client has determined that the off-payroll working rules will apply to this assignment and therefore this contract will be run through an Umbrella Company. Income tax and primary national insurance contributions will be deducted at source from any payments made to the intermediary.
