Serco are currently recruiting for a Security & Traffic Officer for Brize Norton. The Serco Security & Traffic Officer is responsible for the effective delivery of the Serco contracted security/reception duties under the instruction of the security shift supervisor as directed by the security manager.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain a record of daily duties in a pocket book that is numbered and registered at Bldg 2000, main gate reception. This record book will be maintained daily and may be requested to recall incidents in a Court of Law.
  • Control the access and egress of vehicle traffic, military personnel, visitors, contractors and Unit employees at the RAF Brize Norton main gate. In doing so they are to control the flow of traffic/pedestrian, checking ID cards and vehicle permits to ensure only permitted individuals gain access to the unit.
  • Assist in the search of vehicles, visitors and baggage when delegated.
  • In visitor reception provide welcoming service ascertaining the requirements of individual visitors, contractors or deliveries and on the production of the relevant ID, issue the appropriate temporary pass to the individual using the SySIS software system mounted on the DII/MODNET computers.
  • Maintain an effective working knowledge of current regulatory requirements. Including Serco Management System, appropriate National and MoD legislation and local Serco and RAF Brize Norton processes and procedures. Respond to and carry out emergency procedures as and when delegated.
  • Provided a vehicle escort service to visiting/delivery/collection vehicles for ESA and Air Cargo.
  • Ensure compliance with the Serco Management System, ISO9000, ISO14001, ISO18001, HASAW Act 1974 and COSHH regulations.
  • Notify the Serco Security Manager whenever deficiencies emerge that require their attention in respect of safety, risk, compliance or standards.


What you need to do the job?

  • A current , clean driving licence is an essential criteria.
  • Current front-line SIA licence holders will be given preference.
  • Applicants must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to OX18 3LX (1.5 Hours).
  • Security Skills and Experience. Must be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge, background and satisfactory experience related to the security industry.
