Job title: Housing Officer - AASC

Location: Coventry

Salary: £24,500 per annum, plus Serco benefits

Working hours: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week

Here within our Initial Accommodation and Support Services Contract, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housing Officer with strong interpersonal skills to work on a Permanent Contract. We focus on assisting individuals through the asylum system, ensuring that vulnerable asylum seekers have access to the support they need along with accommodation.

In this role you will ensure that all properties within your allocated portfolio are safe, habitable, fit for purpose and fully equipped, completing all minor property repairs - and ensuring that all Service Users maintain compliance with the conditions of their support provision. You will also manage on-boarding and withdrawal of properties as required and operate on an 'Emergency On-Call' system outside of normal working hours in rotation with fellow Housing Officers.

This is a role which requires excellent organisational skills due to the variety of accountabilities, which also include the following:
  • Administering operational cash
  • Working with transportation teams to ensure service users are available for dispersal, relocation and other transport activities
  • De-escalation and managing conflict.

In short you will be a key member of the Housing Officer team and as such you will be self-motivated and able to use your own initiative working to tight timescales.

What you'll need to do the role

Good interpersonal skills are required as you will be working with people where English is not their first language, so experience of dealing with people on a face to face basis is essential.

Lastly, due to the nature of the role Security clearance at Counter Terrorism Check level and Criminal Record Bureau checks are required (all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office).
