Working hours: Full Time, 38 hours per week

Here within our Initial Accommodation and Support Services Contract, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housekeeper with strong interpersonal skills to work on a Permanent Contract. We focus on assisting individuals through the asylum system, ensuring that vulnerable asylum seekers have access to the support they need along with accommodation.

In this role you will ensure that all properties within your allocated portfolio are clean to a compliant standard and ensure carpets are clean whilst ensuring safety of all Service User whilst in the property. You will also remove appropriate waste from properties when in attendance and ensure the waste is disposed of in approved license areas and re-cycled. Lastly, you will notify the Maintenance Administration Department if any defects are found that may pose a health and safety risk.

This is a role which requires excellent organisational skills due to the variety of accountabilities, which also include the following:
  • To purchase materials from approved Serco suppliers and keep receipts for all transactions to identify and record what materials are used for each job / property
  • Working with transportation teams to ensure service users are available for dispersal, relocation and other transport activities
  • De-escalation and managing conflict


In short you will be a key member of the Housekeeper team and as such you will be self-motivated and able to use your own initiative working to tight timescales.

Working hours for this role are: 38 hours per week - Monday to Friday 9.00 -17.00

What you'll need to do the role

Good interpersonal skills are required as you will be working with people where English is not their first language, so experience of dealing with people on a face-to-face basis is essential. Previous experience of cleaning households / large accommodation would be beneficial

You will work flexibly on day shifts so you must have a willingness and ability to travel within the region and occasionally within the UK. A valid UK driver's licence is essential as you will pick-up and transport service users from their initial location to their allocated property using the company vehicle provided.

Lastly, due to the nature of the role Security clearance at Counter Terrorism Check level and Criminal Record Bureau checks are required (all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office).
