We are looking for a Terrain Engineer to join our team to develop simulation capabilities for the RAF’s Gladiator programme for 12 months. The role will be support BDUK current commitments to the Gladiator programme and future opportunities in the land, maritime and international domains.

Your responsibilities will be:

· Creating terrain layers within the Gladiator system (using the ReadyMap application provided by Pelican Mapping). ReadyMap is a GIS repository tool that provides imagery, elevation and vector data in standard web framework technologies (TMS, WMS) to the simulation components used by other Gladiator components

· The role will require new GIS layers (elevation, imagery to be created) and this to be passed to the simulation visual components (CGF, Image Generator). Guidance can be provided by BDUK and how this can be achieved and access to the ReadyMap contractor will be provided for additional training

Desirable experience in any of the following domains would be an advantage:
· Simulations tools such as Computer Generated Forces (CGFs ideally using the MAK VR-Forces toolset), radio comms simulation, After-Action Review systems, image generators, etc
· 3D content creation for terrains and/or visual models
· Agile development using the Atlassian Suite of Tools

You will work as part of a customer-focused engineering team to maintain and develop Boeing’s collective training team, developing content and upgrades for the RAF’s Gladiator programme at RAF Waddington and future BDUK opportunities based on the Gladiator system.

In addition, you will be working on a military airbase and subject to security procedures in accordance with the UK Government’s policies for civilians working in MOD facilities

The successful candidate must be willing and eligible to undergo SC clearance.


 Prepared to work 75% from Frimley, Hampshire and 25% RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire (the majority of the work will be developed in the SE and when completed this will be replicated in Lincolnshire)
