Policy Development Support Inside IR35
Contract Term: 4 months

Location: Hybrid (2-3 days per week in a Defra Hub)

We are recruiting a Policy Development Support professional to join Defra’s Northern Ireland Directorate, initially for four months.
As a Policy Development Support, your main responsibilities would be:
- Delivering high quality outputs to very tight timescales Developing and maintaining key products to aid and ensure a consistent understanding of policy as it develops (e.g., trader journeys, process overviews, explanatory slide decks) Working with delivery colleagues and stakeholders to consider the practical feasibility of policy proposals Planning, monitoring and reporting on projects related to GB-NI agri-food movement, including identifying issues and risks · Delivering effective and timely briefings to Ministers and senior officials
- An understanding of the policy process and ability to rapidly develop expertise in a particular policy area An ability to consider wider political and strategic factors, and long-term implications of decisions. An ability to provide accurate, relevant, and succinct verbal and written communication of complex ideas for different audiences and purposes, including for non-experts Strong IT skillset, including across Microsoft Office suite
