Summary
Engineering Director leads and directs multiple teams while delivering strategic goals. Defines and integrates strategy for functional area(s) to effectively meet business objectives, while ensuring department budget is met.
Core Responsibilities
- Define and integrate strategy for functional area(s) to effectively meet business objectives, while ensuring the department budget is met. Managing Projects.
- Identify and Sponsor strategic projects, optimises product performance and costs, improve customer satisfaction, manage crisis resolution to ensure timely resolution of significant issues and improve team effectiveness/efficiency Resource Management.
- Manage staff selection, performance, development, and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities. Mentor and oversee the technical and professional development of the Engineering team.
- Maintain the Engineering SIOP to proactively forecast future load and capacity requirements Communication.
- Routinely cascade key messages from Meggitt, Division and Product Group to management and teams clearly and concisely.
- Share team performance (KPIs) against their goals and lead celebrations to recognise achievement. Continuous Improvement
- Sponsor improvement projects, ways of working and developing products.
Skills, Experience & Abilities
- Background in Aerospace Composites & Polymers is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of successful direct engagement with customers/ suppliers leading some sensitive commercial negotiations.
- Good understanding, and ability to identify commercial risk, also proactively apply mitigations.
- Excellent problem solving skills and ability to use experience and judgement to review investigation material to identify the next steps. Commercial Awareness.
- Strong ability to lead, plan and direct a team of engineers.
- Ability to plan technical efforts to meet business objectives.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise with changing situations.
- Demonstrated ability to improve products or services by applying professional and business knowledge.
- Ability to absorb and apply new technical information and evaluate implications
- Great negotiation skills.
- Ability to explain a range of complex technical information.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion.
