Greater Manchester Police is one of the UK's largest police forces and is responsible for keeping people safe across more than 1,200 sq km. The Force covers the Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan areas.

GMPs officers and staff work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to keep almost three million people safe. The Force has 10 geographical policing areas known as Divisions that ensure it provides the best possible service to people who live, work and visit Greater Manchester.

The key functions of Research and Analysis include the development of assessments of existing and emerging issues that impact on the conurbation, the provision of Research and Analytical support to operations during their intelligence and evidential phases, and assisting the force to understand the 'big picture' and when setting its operational priorities.

Working with a team of other Intelligence Researchers and Intelligence Analysts in the development of intelligence products, you will provide research support and guidance to management teams in all aspects of police, crime and incident investigation at tasking and coordinating meetings. Collecting, evaluating and researching data from various sources including crimes, incidents, intelligence, witness statements, forensic reports, communications data and financial records, you will help identify offenders, victims, hotspot locations, crime patterns / trends and crime series, resulting in the prioritisation and direction of police resources both at a tactical and strategic level.

You will also produce Specialist Research utilising the techniques and methodologies identified by the National Intelligence Model as a minimum standard. Along with a good knowledge of IT solutions, Database and Data Mining software and statistical solutions you will have a detailed knowledge of spread sheet and PowerPoint computer applications.

The portal to upload Tattoos should not be used to upload CV's or Expressions of Interest, if you do this your application will not be included in the recruitment process.
