The Houses of Parliament Restoration and Renewal (R&R) Programme is set up to preserve the Palace of Westminster, part of a UNESCO World Heritage site, for future generations and ensure it can continue to serve as the home of the UK Parliament in the 21st Century. Accordingly, we’re looking for people with proven relevant expertise and a real desire to help shape the future of our Enterprise Architecture services.

As Principal Enterprise Architect your challenge will be to develop, maintain, optimise and govern a reusable target architecture that meets business needs. You will lead shaping an architecture that delivers business outcomes and required services whilst ensuring value for money, continuous improvement and service/operational resilience. We’ll also rely on you to manage an in-house team and, when required, contractors and partners to deliver multiple services and deliverables to time, cost and quality. Another key focus of the role will be to drive the development and continuous improvement of the team capability and build a wider architecture community that works collaboratively to deliver and manage the architecture, from its inception to its delivery. Put simply, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of Architectural services in a truly Data & Digital focussed organisation that’s on the front foot technologically.

To succeed, you’ll need proven experience in delivering Enterprise Architecture services, including team leadership and working on major digital transformations. You’ll also need Enterprise Architecture framework and standards training/qualification(s) and a track record of pragmatic application, for example TOGAF, Archimate, Certificated Business Architect (BIZBOK), The Open Group Certified Architect (Open CA). 

You’ll be comfortable liaising with stakeholders and customers of all levels and you’ll be happy to share leadership responsibilities too, while working within a non-hierarchical structure, where there’s a strong focus on delivery. What’s more, the idea of being a team player and helping to ease and share the burden by pivoting within the role as required, is something that also appeals to you.

Successful candidates will be required to complete security vetting to a CTC Security level obtained through the Parliamentary Security Department (PSD). Candidates are required to pass these checks before a start date can be confirmed. Applicants should also be aware that, depending on the role applied for, if they have resided outside of the UK for a total of more than two of the last five years, they may not be eligible for vetting
