An exciting opportunity is available for a Dangerous Dogs Advisor to work across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire on initially a 12-month fixed term contract.
The role of the Dangerous Dog Advisor (DDA) is to have responsibility for; providing expert advice to police colleagues regards dangerous dogs; providing expert witness evidence and advice to case directors in relation to â€dog†offences; day to day management of the BCH Dangerous Dog kennelling contract and to check on the compliance with the contract and on the welfare of kennelled animals; providing training to police officers on dangerous dog issues, legislation and safe working practices; presenting the police case at civil court proceedings; supporting the criminal investigation of dangerous dog allegations; and supporting the police seizure of dangerous dogs.

This role is based out of Hertfordshire Constabulary Headquarters (Welwyn Garden City), working alongside our current Dangerous Dogs Advisor and the Dangerous Dogs Sergeant.

- Experience working with Dangerous Dogs.
- Experience of courts system and of the procedures and etiquette.
- To have extensive knowledge of Dangerous Dog Legislation
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing at all levels.
- Ability to make informed decisions and provide rationale for them.
- Confident, clearly spoken and articulate in delivery of information to a range of audiences.
- Experience in the use of IT and a good working knowledge of word processing, spread sheets and databases with the ability to create, search and update as required.
- Ability to accurately record detailed information provided by the court staff and magistrates.
- Excellent customer service.
