AWS Developer – SC cleared


5-month contract – Outside IR35

We’re building a team of SC cleared AWS Developers to work with a central government organisation in London on a large Data programme.

You must have an active UK Government/MOD SC clearance in place to be considered for this role.


As part of the programme you’re activities will include:

  • Work proactively as an agile developer on a high-profile and high-value data platform.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues, problems and incidents.
  • Horizon scan for new technologies and security threats, while maintaining the platform in accordance with security and data best practices.
  • Build tooling, toolkits and APIs for purposes such as integration, performance optimisation, security and scalability.
  • Build automated tests to support our continuous deployment environment.
  • Share knowledge of tools and techniques with the wider team including DevOps Engineers, Architects and Managers.
  • Continuously iterate to deliver optimal digital and data services.
  • Participate in our in-house 2nd-line and 3rd-line support, and potentially any out-of-hours issue and incident resolution.
  • Work with the DevOps engineers to ensure that developments are compatible with our use of Infrastructure-as-Code software tools, such as Terraform or CloudFormation and Configuration-as-Code software, such as Python, Bash and Powershell.


Your background will should look like this:

  • Extensive AWS experience, preferably including certifications.
  • Experience of Terraform / CDK.
  • Experience in HTML, CSS and JavaScript (TypeScript, React JS & NodeJS specifically).
  • Ability to design and implement secure and scalable systems on cloud platforms to support industry best-practice trends (AWS required).
  • Experience delivering within an agile development lifecycle, including source code development, peer-to-peer review, testing and deployment.
  • Comfortable testing to validate solutions using automation tooling such as Selenium, Cucumber etc.
  • Knowledge of continuous integration / deployment including use of Jenkins or similar.
  • Understanding of release management and best practices including the use of Git, Jira, Confluence.
  • Experience working with databases such as Aurora and DynamDb.
  • Experience delivering accurate and relevant search solutions using ElasticSearch, Solr or similar.
  • Experience using Python for data pipeline development and integrating with cloud services such as AWS S3 and Redshift.
  • Experience developing for or working with a large and complex data service.
  • Understanding of user authentication management tools including Okta, Auth0 or similar.
  • Experience of working with container technologies such as Docker.
  • Demonstrable ability to build RESTful web services, taking responsibility for the quality of code you produce and its ongoing maintenance.
  • Nice to have experience in server side languages such as C++ / C# or Java
