AWS Specialist – SC cleared

London

5-month contract – Outside IR35

We’re building a team of SC cleared AWS specialist Consultants to work with a central government organisation in London on a large Data platform programme.

You must have an active UK Government/MOD SC clearance in place to be considered for this role.

As part of the programme you’re activities will include:

  • Optimise AWS infrastructure in line with stabilisation activity
  • Enhance scalability of the platform and its overall performance
  • Identify potential opportunities to deliver VFM by updating AWS Products and Services, reviewing their consumption & use.
  • Update HLD/LLD in line with changes/amends
  • Maximise automation and realise efficiencies
  • Ensure that all services are secure and scalable
  • Identify new products and services that will enable service delivery, supportability and affordability
  • Implement MACIE and other products and services to maximise security
  • Introduce improved audibility, logging and monitoring
  • AWS security response automation and automatic remediation.
  • Implement recommendations from the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
  • Improve and iterate business continuity planning, backup strategies etc
  • Build a good continuous implementation/continuous delivery workflow including deployment/rollback procedures.
  • Help us with the best test strategies (automated).
  • Create operational runbooks.
  • Integration of AWS with Auth0

 

Your background will should look like this:

  • Extensive knowledge of AWS products services, their implementation, support and decommissioning
  • Experience designing and building environments on AWS, which includes working with services like AppStream, EC2, ELB, RDS, and S3
  • Deep knowledge of Terraform for AWS
  • Experience with managing data tools such as AWS Glue
  • Ability to offer clear, impartial advice that is evidenced and informed
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate architectural and technical recommendations
  • Extensive experience designing, securing and scaling systems on cloud platforms to support industry best-practice trends (AWS required).
  • Experience delivering within an agile development lifecycle, including source code development, peer-to-peer review, testing and deployment.
  • Experience working with databases such as AuroraDB, DynamoDB or similar.
  • Experience using Python for data pipeline development, integrating with cloud services such as AWS S3 and Redshift.
  • Experience designing for or working with large volumes of potentially sensitive data.
  • Experience using DevOps tools in a cloud environment, such as Docker, GitHub, Jenkins etc
  • An understanding of writing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), using tools like CloudFormation or Terraform
  • Experience in troubleshooting distributed systems and AWS installations specifically
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills and ability to work well with others
  • The ability and skill to train other people in procedural and technical topics
  • One or more of the following certifications:
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate.
  • AWS Certified Developer - Associate.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional.
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional.
