Applications Support Analyst (Oracle)

Reading or Bridgend

£50-60K plus extensive benefits package

Due to the secure nature of this work all applicants will be required to gain UK Security Clearance to at least SC level. You must have been resident in the UK for at least the last 5 years and cannot have been outside the UK for more than 28 days on any one occasion within this time.

To be successful in this role:

You will have thorough experience as an Oracle PL/SQL Developer, Applications Support Analyst or DBA. Good knowledge of PL/SQL is a must; and exposure to Oracle partitioning, RAC, Dataguard and RMAN would be advantageous. The database is Oracle 11g running on Unix. Suitable training can be provided and Oracle Certification would be encouraged.

This position would suit either an experienced PL/SQL Developer/Support Analyst who would like exposure to Oracle Database Administration; or as an all-round Oracle database specialist who does not mind a challenge and would like to work on a large programme that has a positive impact on safeguarding UK Citizens.

Position summary:

Our client is looking for an Oracle Applications Support Analyst to join their team. You can choose whether to be based out of offices in Reading or Bridgend. There may be occasional paid evening and weekend work for support activities as required.

Job role and responsibilities:

As an Applications Support Analyst you will provide application support and Database Administration to our key clients on a VLDB with multiple partitioning strategies. This typically comprises Application Support to identify data anomalies and code defects; PL/SQL and SQL statement tuning; Application releases and deployments together with Database Administration; Capacity Planning; Performance Monitoring and Tuning. You will react to and resolve incidents via Remedy (ITSM) call management system with strict SLA deadlines and perform planned releases both in and out of core business hours supporting a bespoke application.
