£65-75K plus extensive benefits package

To be successful in this role:

As a Senior Java Developer, you will be confident, articulate and highly knowledgeable of server-side Java development, having worked on major developments requiring high volume transaction processing and performance considerations. You will be an excellent team player, working alongside other experienced developers and will be expected to rapidly acquire the business and technical knowledge of the application to become productive. Other requirements for this role include:

• Core Java 7/8 development
• Good understanding of multi- threaded programming (e.g. with Java 8 and/or Guava Futures)
• Experience of broad range of Software Development Lifecycle
• Good understanding of Test Driven Development methods
• Dependency Injection techniques (CDI and/or Spring)
• Must be comfortable in a working from home environment

Position summary:

Our client is looking for a flexible server-side Senior Java Developer to work on a large programme of critical national infrastructure. You will be joining an existing team developing new functionality for a high performance messaging application with central importance to the energy industry and high visibility amongst multiple partners.

Job role and responsibilities:

As a Senior Java Developer, you will be working from home on the central components of a highly visible nationwide application comprising critical national infrastructure. You will gain extensive experience with solving complex problems involving high performance transaction processing and multi-threading. Working across the software development lifecycle, you will be part of a small team defining changes across multiple components, and then delivering those in a TDD approach. Responsibilities for this role include:

• Estimate accurately and deliver work on time and to a high quality
• Take responsibility for your work and any necessary documentation for production and release teams
• You must be flexible, adaptable, and prepared to advise, and share knowledge

Other responsibilities for this role include:

• Design, develop and unit test assigned work packages
• Work with testers to define and create test scenarios
• Create detailed work packages and estimates
