We are currently seeking an experienced Senior SQL Developer who will be acting as a technical Leader to a team of 11 on a global basis, supporting the mentoring and growth of less experienced SQL Developers in the team.

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior SQL Developer who will be acting as a technical Leader to a team of 11 on a global basis, supporting the mentoring and growth of less experienced SQL Developers in the team.

 

Role Description:

 

Key responsibilities of the as a Senior SQL Developer are:

• Deliver database changes in SQL Server, and potentially Python changes, for stories prioritized by Product Owner.

 

 

• Undertake application database performance tuning and optimization where required.

 

 

• Mentors other Software Engineers and coaches team on MS SQL Server development & tuning.

 

 

• Ability to lead small projects and other team members in delivery.

 

 

• To work collaboratively with development teams in Technology to deliver solutions end to end to meet business requirements.

 

 

• To work closely with Product Owner and business analysts to deliver stories and gain sign-off.

 

 

• Contribute to application design, regression test automation and other efficiency initiatives, as well as actively participating in all agile ceremonies.

 

 

• Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle.

 

 

• Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work.

 

 

• Possess strong proficiency in development and testing practices common to the industry.

 

 

• Responsible for designing and developing complex requirements to accomplish business goals.

 

 

• Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.

 

 

• Ensures solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset.

• Strong/expert SQL development skills.

 

 

• Strong python development skills.

 

 

• Good working knowledge of GIT

 

 

• Good OO design skills, knowledge of patterns and architectural understanding.

 

 

• Knowledge and experience of Agile and Lean software development practices

 

 

• Experience of enterprise application development.

 

 

• Exposure to Continuous Integration and Test Driven Development (TDD).

 

 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven global team interaction.

 

 

• Willingness to learn, adopt and advance team best-practices, procedures and qualitative standards.

 

 

• Willingness to own issues and chase them through to completion, communicating effectively and in a timely manner, throughout.

 

 

 

Prefrerred Skills:

• Investment banking experience

 

 

• Knowledge of Daily PNL Production process within a Global Markets Finance function.

 

 

• Appreciation of Risk Awareness (Inc. Operational, Compliance, Business & Reputational)
