Project Managers provide a key role delivering the Home Office Transformation Portfolio. It is large, complex and challenging and encompasses over 20 major and/or mission critical projects and programmes plus four business portfolios of change. There is a strong focus on agile, modular project delivery, supported by enterprise-wide portfolio management and you could find yourself working on a project for the UK’s critical national infrastructure through to a complex technology enabled business change programme.

The Role of the Project Manager with understanding of Commercial Processes

Your role as Project Manager is to lead/manage the project and the project team. You will be responsible for driving and overseeing the project’s delivery to ensure objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost, and quality constraints. You will have a key role in project governance and working with stakeholders to ensure the agreed project outputs are delivered, /enabling benefits to be realised.

This role is a mix of service contracts service contracts and grants that deliver value for money, are compliant with applicable law, and which demonstrate the best commercial and procurement practice.

Understanding and influencing business strategy to deliver the best commercial outcomes is a vital part of this role, which requires a high degree of influencing to positively and pro-actively assist Public Safety Group (PSG) in meeting its objectives

The role holder would work in direct support of the Interpersonal Abuse Unit (IAU) which leads on the Governments response to Violence Against Women and Girls (including Domestic Abuse).  They would be an essential component in driving forward the Governments ambition in this area which is a key focus of the Prime Minister, Home Secretary and Department.

The successful candidate will bridge the gap between commercial and policy colleagues with this being a high-profile role, given the policy area, providing the holder strategic insight and exposure to an absolute focal point for the Government.

Essential Criteria:

    Strong project delivery experience Experience in delivering complex projects Stakeholder Management and excellent facilitator with good communication experience Effective collaboration skills Experience is using RAID LOGs/ Confluence/ Microsoft Projects Working on Complex projects Procurement Expertise - Significant procurement and commercial experience in a complex and policy-led environment, across the end to end lifecycle; Manages Complexity: Experience of managing large contracts with complex commercial structures to ensure value for money is achieved. Demonstrating strategic thinking, flexibility, risk management and resilience. Builds Relationships: Experience of building and influencing strong, productive relationships at all levels and with a variety of stakeholders with different backgrounds, perspectives and drivers, in a highly complex, fast-moving, commercially focused environment. Commercial Focus: Experience of delivering a high-quality commercial service across the full commercial lifecycle including knowledge and understanding of commercial policies, their practical application and the ability to implement the latest commercial methodologies. Strategy Development: Ensures relevant issues are fed into commercial strategy and big picture considerations.  Identifies when something needs to change and sets out practical options. Delivers at Pace: Proven track record of setting high standards and delivering at pace.
Typical Role Responsibilities:

    Project Management – Day to day management and leadership of the project and the project team. Provide effective leadership and management controls. Set project controls. Design the project structure and organisation appropriate to stage. Set appropriate delivery methodologies. Manage effective transition between project phases Reporting & Analysis – Gather information and present progress on reports Planning and Dependencies- Support the development of panning, control and information management within workstreams Resources – Identify skill requirements; and deploy and develop resources. Manage medium sized team Benefits Realisation – Deliver the agreed Business Case benefits and outcomes. Ensure appropriate Benefits Realisation Strategy is in place and monitor longer term delivery of benefits against the Business Case. Risks & Issues – Identify and monitor project risks and issues. Develop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate. Identify and work with related projects to manage interdependencies Governance – Support effective governance and decision making. Provide reporting and engage in mechanisms that hold you, as Project Manager, to account for delivery Project Performance and Controls – Cascade vision and translate into delivery objectives for the team. Develop and maintain Project Plan. Identify and set appropriate Project Controls. Manage performance and report progress to sponsors
