​For over five decades the Airbus Defence and Space site of Portsmouth in Hampshire has been the lynchpin for the development and construction of Telecommunications, Scientific, Earth Observation and Meteorology Satellite Payloads, Satellite Telecommunications Products and Ground Terminals for satellite communications. The site has some of the best equipped and state-of-the art development, assembly, test and production facilities in the space industry with a strong focus on RF equipment and payloads.

 

 

 

The Opportunity

 

A Client Management / 3rd level support plan & build Specialist role has become available for the Airbus, Space and Defence Facility in Portsmouth for the operation of specific IT solutions. You will be required to deliver and deploy IT products and services with end-to-end accountability in conjunction with the Product Manager. This key role will have responsibilities for the optimization, reliability, efficiency and availability of the IT assets, solutions and capabilities, in an industrialized manner in accordance with best practices, rules and policies. The role will involve being a consultant for the operation and change of existing solutions as well as entry into service of new solutions.

 

 

 

How will you contribute?

 

-   Ensures the provisioning of new software packages and upgrades.

 

 

 

-   Maintains the infrastructure in operational condition in line with OLA/SLAs.

 

 

 

-   Monitors and tracks system performance against negotiated service-level agreements (SLAs).

 

 

 

-   Communicates improvement, updates and obsolescence management of products to the IT Product Manager.

 

 

 

-   Provides support 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, depending on the needs of the company and the use of automated scheduling and remote monitoring.

 

 

 

-   Performs the ITIL based support processes that include incident, problem, change, configuration, and event management.

 

 

 

-   Analyses console messages, diagnoses system failures and takes corrective action in order to ensure continuity of operations, escalating to other technical teams and vendors as needed.

 

 

 

-  Supervises system backup processing, and leads disaster recovery tests Identifies and implements technologies and processes that improve the reliability, efficiency and availability of the systems environment.
