The Ministry of Defence is seeking a Network Design Modeller to join their team in Bristol. This role will involve some remote working.

Team: Ministry of Defence|MOD Core|JFC|JFC HQ HLB|JFC HQ HLB

Initial contracts will run until 30/04/2022 and offer a rate up to £647/day

IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. This engagement has been assessed by the public body as Inside IR35 legislation. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement.

This role requires Active SC (Security Check) clearance. Applicants require active SC clearance or the willingness to go through clearance before starting on site. Candidates with current clearance will be preferred.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for translating complex real-world support chains and associated problems into robust and accurate network design models. Communicate with stakeholders to explain models and gain validation with regards to approach, assumptions, constraints and caveats.
  • Provide support in co-ordinating with key strategic stakeholders on identifying strategic changes that may affect GND.
  • Work with stakeholders to effectively scope each subsequent model’s requirements in accordance with Defence Planning Assumptions (DPAs).
  • Work with the DSCOM Data Engineer to acquire, harmonize, cleanse, blend and aggregate data from systems and disparate Excel files in support of each model.
  • Responsible for identifying and communicating potential areas for future model development and actions to mitigate gaps in the data.
  • Interpret the results, running necessary scenarios to aid with the interpretation and communicate results to the correct level of detail for the audience (usually with SO1 Network Design).
  • Create interactive visuals to bring model result to life and further detect network opportunities.
  • Report any user faults and or issues with the software to the software provider

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrate attention to detail, creativity and critical independent thought.
  • Applies original thinking to produce new ideas and innovative products; questions assumptions and imagines future possibilities.
  • Can work with data to identify patterns; uses judgement to form conclusions that may challenge conventional wisdom.
  • Can identify and analyse problems, identify underlying causes, generates multiple solution options, evaluates and selects the best option.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with others.
  • Proven track record in data analysis and modelling, with the ability to navigate data through script writing and data visualization (experience with Power BI a plus).
  • Experience of handling large datasets and building data models and familiarity with Extract, Transform & Load tools.
  • Excellent research, analytical and knowledge management.
  • Demonstration of the specific skills, knowledge or qualifications for the post as defined by the appropriate Head of Profession.
  • Demonstration of the aptitude or potential to perform at the required standard for the appropriate grade.
  • Ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills applicable to the next higher grade to enhance career opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with and managing a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Have proficiency in, or willingness to learn, end to end supply chain concepts, principles and processes

Candidate Eligibility

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, this role will not offer Visa sponsorship. Tier 2 – General visas are cannot be accepted. This role requires that candidates be willing to undergo BPSS (DS) Baseline Personnel Security Standard (with a Disclosure Scotland).
